Early Years Foundation Stage

At Sebert Wood we strive to give our youngest children the best transition into school life that we can. We have worked hard to develop a comprehensive induction programme and ensure that children are settled into school life as quickly as possible, with children's welfare being at the centre of our decision making.

We are proud of our classroom environment both inside and out, and continually work to develop the areas further using our children's interests and current curriculum approaches and pedagogy as a stimulus. We aim to facilitate children to develop wonderful attitudes to learning, fostering their natural inquisitive natures and developing a language for them to be able to understand and describe how they learn best.

Our EYFS curriculum goals can be found on our Curriculum Guide.  Our Intent, Implementation and Impact Statement provides you with more information about how we are implementing the Foundation Stage Statutory Framework 2021.

outdoor learning

Outdoor learning is a fundamental part of learning and in the EYFS and we operate a free flow system where the children can choose whether to learn outside or inside. The children have access to the outdoor area throughout the day and we set up activities that support and enhance the learning of what we are doing inside. At times these activities can be messy and whilst we do our best not to get too muddy and aim to put on aprons – there are times when the children will get dirty! Please can you provide wellies that we can keep in school.
